Radio host Charlamagne tha God has publicly called on Democratic Party leadership to end the ongoing government shutdown, saying the party has already “lost the fight” and must reopen government services to relieve Americans affected by the stalemate.

On Monday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne argued that Democrats were fighting for goals that are already out of reach due to the shutdown’s impact. “The healthcare is going to go up anyway because of the ‘big beautiful bill’ … So, if it’s going up anyway, what’s the point of Democrats taking the stand to keep the government still closed?” he said.

He urged the party to allow government benefits and services to resume, highlighting that programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are already in jeopardy. “At least give the people some relief and get the government back open. Let these people get these SNAP benefits. Let these government workers get their checks,” Charlamagne said.

His comments reflect growing concern about the human cost of political gridlock, particularly for low-income households and federal employees who depend on uninterrupted government operations. The shutdown has already prompted warnings about disruptions to assistance programs and public sector paychecks.
