Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been arrested and brought back to the United States to face a second-degree attempted murder charge stemming from a shooting incident in Miami last May.

According to authorities, Brown, 37, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Dubai and flown to Essex County, New Jersey, where he is being held pending his extradition to Miami. The shooting allegedly took place on May 16 outside a celebrity boxing event, where Brown is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a man with whom he had a prior altercation. One bullet reportedly grazed the victim’s neck.

Brown’s football career included over 12 years in the NFL, four first-team All-Pro selections and a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The attempted murder charge is the most serious in a long list of legal issues he has faced since his playing days ended in 2021.
If convicted of the charge, Brown faces up to 15 years in prison and a potential $10,000 fine under Florida law.
